Club - How JNTo Find Us
We meet in the Harlequin Theatre bar (usually) every Friday at 8:30.
The Harlequin Theatre is in Queen Street in Northwich, CW9 5
Find Northwich in your Road Atlas - it's in the middle of
Cheshire.
Look for the A556 which goes East-West from the M6 (junct 19) towards
Chester.
Where it swings south of Northwich, it meets the A533 just north of the
village of Davenham. Turn northwards here and follow the
signs.
About two miles later, you'll come under a railway viaduct arch.
There are two turns immediately on the left - take the second
one.
After 50 yards, there is a right angle bend to the right. This is
now Queen St and the theatre is half way along on the left.
When the theatre company have a production on (six times a year), we
move to one of our second homes, which can be the Davenham Players
Theatre, Oakmere Cricket Club or sometimes somewhere else. Check the
Events List to see which.
To find Davenham Players, turn south at the A556/A533 junction into
Davenham village, turn left into Church St by the shops. The
Players
Theatre is about 300 yards on the left. (CW9 8NE).
To find Oakmere Cricket Club,
go west out of Northwich to the junction of the A565 and the A49. Here
turn south for a few hundred yards and you'll find a turning into
Overdale Lane on the right. A short way along here is an entrance on
the right. Continue around the left side of the cricket field to the
pavillion. (CW8 2EL)

The Harlequin Theatre has a bar area on the first floor which is
where
the folk club usually meet. However, for some nights we hire the
theatre proper which allows us to seat 96 people.
Disabled Access: The theatre has level access at ground floor
level including toilets. The bar is up a single flight of
stairs.
At Davenham, there is a ground level entrance with a small step.

The Harlequin Theatre company put on six plays every year and while
these are running, the folk club re-locates to another local
venue. Check the "Forthcoming Events" list
to be sure of the correct venue.
We have often used the Davenham Players Theatre and the Oakmere
Cricket Club. Occasionally, when neither is available, we might
relocate
elsewhere.
We have visited the RAOB Club, 52-54 Witton St. Northwich CW9
5AG and one or two local public houses.
And what's the venue like? Most nights are in the theatre bar
(capacity about 50, acousticly not great, but friendly), but sometimes
we splash out and set up in the theatre itself.

This is another of those small soft-seaters that I like so much.
The stage is at ground level, and the seats rake upward fairly steeply,
so everybody is above you. There's also some standing room at ground
level
on either side of the banked seating. Above the seats through a set of
doors there's a cafe. It only holds about 120 people, but it is so
warm,
intimate and friendly (and full!), it felt like a thousand.
- Ok, so it only actually holds 96, but it is a great place to
play, and when it's full, it buzzes!!!
